Developed with the goal of sourcing a less water-intensive nut to provide that familiar crunch AND our love for the Cantonese takeout classic, honey walnut prawns, Sweet Cheeks is our first chili crisp developed specifically for ice cream sundaes. It features candied organic walnuts from Heron Fox Farms along with organic guajillo and mojo chile peppers from Tookey Farms. Both are fellow vendors at the Sebastopol Farmers Market - be sure to stop by their booth next time you visit!
Sweet Cheeks also complements a club sandwich, a big ball of burrata with crusty focaccia, a summery watermelon salad, or a cheese and charcuterie spread. Best enjoyed on a picnic blanket in the sun.
Heat level: Mild.
Ingredients: olive oil, candied walnuts (organic walnuts, vegetable oil, brown sugar, salt), organic chiles (guajillo, mojo), shallots, pepitas, sesame seeds, salt, Sichuan peppercorns, brown sugar, ginger, cardamom, cloves, star anise, cinnamon, annatto, nutmeg, citric acid, fennel seed, porcini powder, white pepper.

Sweet Cheeks is tasty and versatile—a lovely mild sauce. I’ve used it in grilled cheese sandwiches and to top avocado toast. Drizzled a bit on grilled shrimp. And I had to buy more vanilla ice cream, because this is the best topping for that! I am going to run out of this seasonal specialty before long. Hope there will be some left so I don’t have to wait for next year!
